DRAPER’S PAPER ROUTE

BLESS HIS HOLY NAME

by Adam Carroll Draper

I woke up this morning with Jonathan David Helser’s song Endless Ocean playing on my heart just as loud as if the stereo was on.

In the beginning, You were singing.
In the end You'll still be, singing over me.
In this moment, You're right beside me.
You're everywhere, You're in the air that I breathe.

You are an endless ocean, a bottomless sea.

In the midst of what seems like an inevitable collapse of the economy  due to the continuing pandemic response (and all the horrors that will cause those who were just barely making it as it was), and while rage ignites over the murder of George Floyd (that’s what it looks like - murder), I woke to the comfort of The Almighty.  It felt like the Holy Spirit was reminding me whose I am.  So I will do what I always do when things are over my head, Praise God (Baruch HaShem).

All those angels, they are swimming
In this ocean and they still can find no shore.
Day and night, night and day
They keep seeing new sides of Your face.

You are an endless ocean, a bottomless sea.

There’s no end to the affection you have for me.

Nothing ever happens that you haven’t already seen, Lord.  No matter the torrent and upheaval of the day, you are there with me – more than enough to overcome anything, El Shaddai.  And why am I here in this place at just this time but to surrender to your rest and let you shine.  Your joy comes in the morning and you bless me.  I pour that out with all the might you give me.  You made me for such a moment as this.  This is my life everlasting, to be your son in the great wide open, harkening to the voice of my savior as we surf the tsunami and ride upon the gale with wings of eagles.

You are my God. I will Bless your Holy Name until you call me home or until the blast of eternity’s trumpet shakes the earth and rends the heavens at your triumphant return, Lord Jesus.  And then I will praise you forevermore in glory.
